Bespoke employee opinion surveys



 

 

If you investigate and quantify views of your people, you will use your HR or communication budgets more effectively and improve morale/motivation at the same time.

Example 1 - employee benefits.

Maybe your costs of benefits inclusive of pensions are 20% of base salary.  And increasing.

Would you like to know how staff actually value these benefits and hence focus expenditure on the areas that may have impact on morale and retention? An employee opinion survey is probably the answer.

Example 2 - departmental effectiveness.

An effective organisation depends not only on external customer satisfaction but on internal customer satisfaction.   You have set up a new department, and want to know:

  • Whether the investment is paying off
  • How to improve internal customer service

Ask - it is in effect 360° appraisal on a department, and very powerful data.

Example 3 - turnover

  • Unwanted staff turnover is a very significant cost ( whether direct or indirect ) to a business.  You really can find out "why".  But traditional exit interviews will probably not help you very much.
  • Consider a scenario (it happens frequently) where turnover various quite significantly as between different locations or departments.  By comparing views of employees in these different areas - particularly if including questions such as " I expect to be with this organisation in 3 years' time" - then careful statistical analysis will give you very powerful data on which you can rely in planning appropriate interventions.

For all surveys we emphasise that clients should be expecting to receive a very substantial return on the investment.  It is so easy to implement HR policies, training and development initiatives, new reward structures, new approaches to provision of benefits ...  without first  evaluating employee views about these subjects, or determining the degree to which the intended outcomes are the actual outcomes as perceived by your staff.

In that context, the investment  in a bespoke opinion survey is extremely modest compared with the costs (whether direct or missed opportunities) of "missing the target".
